On Monday, Storm and the rest of kindergarten got a visit from an ambulance. The paramedics gave a presentation to the students and even let the students have a look around the ambulance. Thanks Ms McDonnell for organising a great opportunity for our students!
Designing and Making
Posted on
Yesterday, we learnt about planning and building. Students discussed something they wanted to build and then looked up pictures on the Internet with Mrs Sandner and Miss Wardley. They then spent time making their buildings and communicating the process via sign and speech. Well done K-6D students!

Posted onDonald Loves Drumming
Posted onEarlier this term: After reading, Donald Loves Drumming, Miss Wardley taught us some drumming skills. We loved it because we could either hear the sound or feel the vibrations. We loved that we caught Isaac being cheeky and trying to play on Mason’s drum but Mason quickly told him not to. Communication in our room is becoming stronger and stronger every week.
Art with Miss Smith
Posted onMiss Kelsey Smith chose to do her high school work experience with us as she likes the idea of being a Teacher of the Deaf. Miss Smith has bilateral Cochlear Implants like many of our students and is a proud Aboriginal young woman. She wanted to show us how to make an artwork inspired by her Aboriginal culture after we read the Dreaming story about the Rainbow Serpent.
NAIDOC Week activities
Posted onOver the last couple of weeks, we have been learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture and have enjoyed participating in lots of activities. We have read lots of books about culture and even had Pam and Anne come to read some books to us in Auslan. We were learning new signs and discussing the books using Auslan. We also learnt how to play the Elephant Game and Deaf Whispers (both games enjoyed in the Deaf community).
We loved having Sarah and Miss Murray help us in bracelet making, Aboriginal dancing, face painting and indigenous games. Thanks to Mrs Curry for organising such a great week recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture!

Posted onResponsible Pet Program
Posted onThis week, we had a visit from the Responsible Pet Program. We learnt about safe ways and unsafe ways to approach animals and how to tell if an animal has been identified as a dangerous animal. We loved the visual presentation on the Interactive Whiteboard and we all got a chance to practice approaching Linc, the dog who visited us. Afterwards, we had some worksheets to do in our classroom with Miss Duncan to make sure we understood what Linc taught us.
